Daemond Arrindell: Identity Poems - Who are you, Really? (Vashon-Maury Land Trust) $15
Following the paths of previous poets you will dig deep, find and get to know the "you" that's been hiding but really wants to come out and play. Writing exercises working around different poetic forms will also facilitate the process of revealing the real "YOU."
Storme Webber: Literary Performance
(Vashon-Maury Senior Center) $15
Our first step will be to generate text (poetry, memoir, experimental work) through discussion, reading and prompts. We will then work on creating a performance of the piece, using multiple techniques, including theater, music, movement, breath and improvisation. These exercises are drawn from more than 25 years experience as a performing writer and producer. Devised especially for the shy and intimidated, we will first locate the joy of creation and fly on from that point.
Tom Pruiksma: The Poet’s Magic: A Bequest of Wings
(Vashon Library) Free
In his show, “A Bequest of Wings,” poet and magician Thomas H. Pruiksma will weave poetry and magic together to explore what he calls “The Poet’s Magic”: how poets can reveal not just the magic of words, but the hidden wonders of everyday life. Nowhere else in the worlds of poetry or of magic will you find a presentation like this one. See www.thepoetsmagic.com for more details. Recommended for ages 8 to 108.
Mel Michaels: Visionary Outbursts: The Poetics of Presence (Vashon Presbyterian Church) $15
We will review the essence and historical influence 'the Beat Generation' had on post-World War II America with the intention of learning to create, capture, and compose "wild, undisciplined, pure, coming in from under, crazier the better" poetry.

Judith Roche: The Poetics of Place: A River Runs Through Us (Vashon-Maury Senior Center)
We are rooted in place ¬and in displacement ¬even if we are just passing through. We will consider the questionhow to get to the life of a place beyond the static and expected observations? We'll approach writing about home, land, identity and place, whether landscape of our minds, a remembered one or a physical and present one.
